Why Men Need to Eat More Fruits and Veggies
Posted January 8th, 2011Men need to eat fruits and veggies more, yet they are more reluctant than women in eating fruits and veggies. The simple reason to eat them is that great well built bodies aren’t made just by working out in the gym; it needs a healthy supply of nutrients as well. Aside from that there are more obvious, but vital, medical advantages of eating fruits and veggies.
Men are More Prone to Heart Diseases:
According to National institutes of health, heart diseases are the leading cause of death for men. Each year about 315,706 men die due to hear diseases; compared to women this number is approximately 1 ½ times more. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists poor diet as a big factor to this.
Strawberries, Apples, Broccoli are all the best natural fighters against most heart diseases. A fresh juice from a fruit and vegetable juicer will provide ample amounts of folate and potassium, which are recommended by doctors to prevent heart diseases, and contain fiber, which soaks up cholesterol from blood vessels.
Prevention of Erectile Dysfunction:
As men age, they lose the vigor of their youth but to combat that, they resort to pills and other costly methods to counter their erectile dysfunction. Tomatoes and Watermelon contain lycopene, which is a key ingredient to correct erectile dysfunction and prostate health. Furthermore, tomatoes contain alpha and beta carotene which are anti-oxidants.
The best part is that it’s easy and economical too. You will need a medical certificate to purchase a pill like Viagra and also shell out a lot of cash. Now compare that to the convenience of a glass of fresh tomato and watermelon juice made from a juicer-now you see the difference.
Keeping Fit:
As mentioned earlier, fruits and veggies help you keep fit. Any physical trainer will always tell you to maintain a good diet of fruits and veggies along with your exercise regime. Include lots of fruits and veggies in your diet especially ones that have lots of fiber in them like Avocado, Beans, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrot, Chick Peas, Eggplant, etc which boosts digestion. Also Vitamins like A,C,D,E and minerals play an important role in muscle building and muscle development.
