Homemade Juicing
Posted January 17th, 2012Juicing is thought to be one of the healthiest, if not THE healthiest, and most natural ways to receive all of your necessary vitamins and minerals. Those who are new to juicing may wonder if the effort is worth the outcome. Aren’t store bought juices the same as what you get from your juice extractor? 100 percent juice is all juice, isn’t it?
Lets take apple juice for example. Store bought apple juice, although it may claim to be 100% juice, it will likely contain additives and preservatives to maintain flavor and color during the months it sits on a grocery store shelf. Cups of sugar are added for sweetness as well as food coloring for aesthetic reasons. Check out the low sugar label and you will find one added ingredient to make that juice “low sugar”: water.
Leading brands also add vitamin C due to loss during manufacturing. Orange juice companies have recently been ousted for adding flavor packets to years-old vats of orange juice, while still maintaining their “not from concentrate” labeling. All of these extras can be avoided by juicing in the comfort of your home. When you make your own apple juice, you know exactly what is in your cup….apples. Nothing added, nothing lost. All the benefits go directly into your glass without the inappropriate additions.
Apple “Pie” Juice

Using a juice extractor, juice the apples. Add the spices and serve.
