Juicing for Health
Posted January 3rd, 2014Most New Year’s resolution lists will have “eating healthier” near the top of the list. The easiest way to implement your healthy resolution is through the regular use of a juicer. Possibly the healthy ingredient you can put in your juice extractor is dark leafy greens. Juicing greens is an excellent route to consuming your needed quantities of vitamin A, C, K, folate and chlorophyll.
The concentrated amounts of these nutrients in the juice of leafy greens brings about many anti-cancer and antioxidant benefits. In addition, the chlorophyll in green juice aids in balancing blood sugar, increasing energy and assisting the cleansing of blood cells. Next time you turn to your juice extractor, be sure to add a bit of greens to your recipe. Examples of dark leafy greens include arugula, broccoli, collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale, Swiss chard, dandelion leaves and numerous herbs.
Green Juice Recipe:
1 pound dark leafy greens (kale, spinach, etc), washed
1 apple (cored)
1 lemon
Bunch up leafy greens and feed through your juicer followed by the cored apple. Enjoy.
